City of McMinnville is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Utility Worker II and Senior Utility Worker as part of our Conveyance System Maintenance Crew.
 
Job Title:
Utility Worker II or Senior Utility Worker
 
Pay Rate:  Utility Worker II -- $3,784 to $5,298/month ($21.83-$30.57/hr.), depending on experience
                  Senior Utility Worker -- $4,660 to $6,524/month ($26.89-$37.64/hr.) depending on experience
 
Closing Date:  Open until filled, first review after June 12, 2022
 
Duties: Performing routine inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair of collection systems and manholes, operating a hydro-cleaner truck, pipeline television inspection truck/CCTV unit, dump truck, and backhoe; controlling traffic in the vicinity of job site location; using a computer for data management and for inspection purposes; and utilizing maps and diagrams to complete assignments.
 
Qualifications:  Valid Oregon commercial driver’s license Class A with manual transmission tanker and air break endorsements or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire, certified flagger or public agency work site traffic control course (or ability to obtain within the one year orientation period), and confined space entry safety training.  Experience in collection system maintenance relating to hydro-cleaning, pipeline television inspection, and excavation construction experience preferred. 
Utility Worker II: DEQ Wastewater Collection Systems Grade I or Provisional I certificate (or ability to obtain within the one year orientation period). 
​Senior Utility Worker:  DEQ Wastewater Collection Systems Grade III (or ability to obtain within the one year orientation period).

Senior Operator or Operator II
Job Type:  Full Time
Salary:   Senior Operator -- $55,920 to $78,288 per year
               Operator II -- $50,184 to $70,272 per year

The City of McMinnville, Wastewater Services Division is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Senior Operator or Operator II.  
Duties: The Senior Operator, in a lead capacity, operates and maintains the City’s Class IV Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and associated pump stations in compliance with state and federal regulations, while meeting the specific effluent standards established by the facility’s NPDES permit; administers and implements the Biosolids Program; scheduling daily work assignments and plans/coordinates long-term project work; generates and maintains accurate operational reports; and participates as a member of the operation and maintenance team to assess conditions, solve problems, and make team decisions..  The Operator II will be part of a team responsible for operating the City’s WRF and associated pump stations to ensure proper equipment operation; reads instruments and records data, and enters, retrieves and manipulates data from a computer; and interprets process control data and makes equipment and process adjustments to meet targets set by the process control guidelines.. 
Qualifications:  Senior Operator -- Equivalent to high school education plus additional broad specialized courses in wastewater technology equal to two years of college.  Four years’ experience at a Class II or higher activated sludge wastewater treatment facility.  Must possess an Oregon Wastewater Treatment System Operations Grade III Certification and a valid Oregon Driver’s License. 
Operator II -- Intermediate knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, and equipment used in advanced wastewater treatment processes, with experience in a Class III or higher activated sludge wastewater treatment facility; intermediate knowledge of biological and chemical nutrient removal and tertiary treatment systems; and high school education (or equivalent) plus additional specialized courses in wastewater treatment plant operation, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training.  Must possess an Oregon Wastewater Treatment System Operations Grade II Certification and a valid Oregon Driver’s License.

Job Opportunity: Superintendent - Wastewater Collections

The City of Grants Pass is seeking to fill a Wastewater Collections Superintendent position for the Public Works Department.  The ideal candidate will be highly organized, an effective communicator, experienced in managing multiple contracts and varied tasks, and have a strong leadership presence. The Superintendent will be approachable, effective under pressure, and will possess the ability to find appropriate solutions when issues arise.
The Wastewater Collections Superintendent will be skilled in:
  • Wastewater collections & sewer system repairs
  • Installation and repair of equipment and collection components
  • All aspects of supervision of staff
  • Management of daily operations & long-range needs of the sewer system
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and the public
  • Budget management

The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining and documenting the City of Grants Pass’ collection system inspection and cleaning program and making annual reports to the Oregon-DEQ. The Superintendent collaborates with the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent in regard to the City’s industrial pretreatment program.
Incumbents are responsible for planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing staff work. Performs personnel duties such as selection, evaluation of performance, discipline, and termination of employees. Evaluates and makes effective recommendations in hiring and termination decisions. Counsels employees as appropriate. Provides career development opportunities for staff. Develops processes that involve employees in decision-making. Implements and communicates goals and expectations for staff performance. Ensures appropriate training is provided.
